Artist Spotlight - Juan Villegas

Juan Villegas was born in the city of Cali, Colombia, on May 25th 1987 into a family of entrepreneurs, artists, and musicians.  With such a rich family  environment, he quickly started developing an interest in the arts. 
After graduating high school in 2005, Juan moved to Austin, Texas to continue his journey in art and graduated from Sam Houston State University with a bachelor of Fine Arts, focusing in drawing and painting. 

His work consists of dreamlike images occurring where fantasy and reality meet and where time and memory shift.  His images invite the viewer to step into a realm of higher consciousness where the subconscious and the physical world dance and fly together.  By applying a poetic and often metaphorical language via his painting, Juan seduces viewers into a world of equilibrium where intervals of allegory articulate the streams of our human condition.
